“Ok! It has only taken 6 months, but I’ve gathered the courage to do this!”

It started with a short email inquiry.

Then, 6 months later there was another email. She was ready to make a plan. To get photographed. To be seen. To be courageous enough to be vulnerable. To do this!

“Beauty is how you feel inside, and it reflects in your eyes. It is not something physical.” – Sophia Loren

That she found me online is incredible. That she chose to be vulnerable in front of my cameras in my cozy studio is humbling.

We covered clothes and accessories during the online consultation session. She aced that part! She brought several outfits and accessories that suited her figure and personality perfectly. I laid them out during the hair and makeup session and decided on the sequence of the various looks we would shoot.

We used natural light for most of the portrait session. We flow-posed from one outfit to the next for about 2 hours. We were both tired and exhilarated. We had created images that were authentic and timeless. This was a great team effort.

Her European elegance and flair were a delight to capture. Capturing the essence of this luminous soul was both a pleasure and an honour for us.

We needed to create headshots that had a more corporate look, but it was rewarding and thrilling to finish the shoot with some sequins.

Family Portraits: A Moment in Time.

For this family, our story goes way back. Grade 8 homeroom late 1990s. (It doesn’t make me any younger.)

For this couple, family portraits are important. Every year, I receive Christmas wishes from them that include updated portraits of the growing clan. 1 dog. A belly. A dog and a newborn. A second belly. A dog, a toddler, and another newborn. You get the picture. *Pun intended.

This time, the crew I photographed was made up of three young men and a busy couple.

We set out to do Fall portraits that included casual attire of flannel shirts, jeans, and boots. We didn’t expect the temperature to rise to the high 20s and low 30s Celsius. Hot, it was. Busy, it was. Priceless it is.

In getting ready for the photo shoot, Supermom had planned for two sets of clothing: a coordinated outdoor wear theme, and another sportier look.

Miss Fantastic had also planned out cold drinks and snacks. These turned out to be lifesavers considering the travel time between the different locations we visited and the warm temperatures. The boys were remarkably cooperative. We were then able to go to one final location.

Once home, we were able to prolong the photo session just long enough to create a few more images of the three little monkeys in their natural habitat.

Attracting Clients I Deserve: Abelle Portraits

The web makes learning accessible. I use it as part of my regular training to perfect the mastery of my craft, I follow a number of entrepreneurs and leaders in my industry. I am constantly watching and listening to webinars and podcasts. Like every day. Like all the time.

The other day, while listening to a business webinar, the influential speaker said this: «You attract the clients you deserve.» In other words, you attract clients who are aligned with your energy. This line has stayed with me since.

I struggle with the confidence in the service I provide and the quality of the work I produce for people. I have come to understand that and expect it. I know many artists and soul-preneurs feel the same way because our soul is part and parcel of the service we provide for others. Indeed, portrait photography is my labor of love.

Abelle Portrait and Wedding Photography

These are some of the lovely souls that have come into my life in 2018.

When I read this line over and over again: «You attract the clients you deserve.», I am at a loss for words to express my gratitude toward the clients who come into my studio. All I know is I am one darn-lucky and blessed human being!

Celebrating the Overcoming of Challenges: Abelle Portrait Studio

Accept the challenges so that you can feel the exhilaration of victory. George S. Patton

Business profile portraitThere are no words to describe this session. I decided to let my client share her story in her own words.

“Most of us know life can bring challenges that knock us down for a while. And even when we know things have started to turn around, this turn-around can take a while, in little steps at a time. When I moved to Brockville in 2015, it was to start over. I found Isabelle’s blog by a “happy accident.” And I put the beauty makeover photo shoot on my wish list for when I felt ready to “come back out” into the world. It took 3 years, but then I contacted her, which started the ball rolling. I was excited and scared, and questioning it all as I met with her beforehand and decided what I wanted to wear. But also afraid that what I had been hoping for so much would turn into another disappointment that I had to overcome.

Disappointment was never part of this experience – ever—not during the shoot nor when I saw the pictures. The shoot felt professional and Isabelle’s photography knowledge was front and centre. However, her compassion for her clients like me was also an integral part of the process. She knew and understood this was not an easy experience for people to go through. Yes she was gentle and considerate about it all. My pictures surprised me but also made me feel like I had found me again….yes, a bigger size, a little more wrinkled and looking older. But I now had something—physical evidence– that showed on the outside how much better I was feeling on the inside.

A Few Shades of Grey: Abelle Portraiture

Remember this woman?

Back in 2015. A very different look.

Natasha was the face of a few of Abelle’s promotional pieces back in 2015 and 2016.
Well, look at her now!

It takes courage to go gray and for Natasha, it was a journey. Courage is this woman’s middle name.

Rocking the Silver Pixie Cut!

After choosing to live a chemical-free life, it became clear that she would eventually have to make that decision. I cannot believe how stunning she looks. Look at the other glamorous portraits of her taken a few years ago.

Before and After Baby Number Three: Family Portrait Sessions

This next photo shoot, actually photo shoots, is of a gorgeous family of 5. Made up of three little boys who are full of beans, a mom and a dad, a dog and chickens. There is never a dull moment in this household.
Only a few weeks after delivering baby number 3, she was out on the ski hill with the two oldest boys.Abelle family portrait photography

Then came boy number 3: Grayson.Abelle family portrait photographer Abelle family portrait photographer

When I met them this Fall, they were just finishing some major home renovations including an entire addition. Where they find the energy, I don’t know. All I know is that this family is GORGEOUS, friendly, funny and authentic. I love them to bits.

People often ask What do you do? “I am a photographer’ isn’t enough“. This is what I do: I photograph connections and love and give families heirloom images of moments. Portraits that will stand the test of time. It is an honour and a privilege to do this for people and their families.

Mother’s Day Portrait Sessions, Chapter 1 : Abelle

In early April, we carried out a Mother’s Day Portrait promotion. After seeing the ad in the local paper, this young woman (Jody), mother of two little munchkins and professional massage therapist, contacted me. She needed to update her family portraits. I convinced her to come early and get portraits of her done as well. We had the phone consultation; went over Abelle’s Getting-Ready Guide and set a date. She gets an A+ for having selected great outfits and accessories for her and her children.

The session was split into two parts. First, we took care of her. Kathy worked her magic with Jodys hair and makeup. Abelle portrait studio photo sessionWe photographed her in various outfits. Her grace and beauty in the portraits are remarkable. She got more and more comfortable in front of the camera as the session progressed.Glamour portrait photography studio: Abelle

Secondly, her two precious munchkins arrived. We then set up a fast paced portrait session that included giggles and a snack break.

Lastly, I saw Jody again for her reveal and sales session. She went home with a set of precious portraits for her home.
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to take part in creating these priceless portraits for your family.

Personal Branding Photography Session: Abelle Portrait Studio

The initial request was for a new portrait for this business woman’s website. What started as a phone consultation for a corporate portrait photography session morphed into a double-duty session: a personal branding portrait session followed by a beauty makeover and glamour photo shoot.

How you look +
How you speak +
+ How you act = Your personal brand.

Beautiful Makeover and Elegant Portrait Session: Abelle

She is a business owner, a mother and grandmother and a woman full of life. She needed a new corporate portrait for LinkedIn and her other social media profiles. She had the honesty to come into the photography studio and say: “I didn’t know what to bring.  I either like wearing these outfits or people have complimented me on them. So I brought them all.” I think you nailed it. A+ on your selection Marjorie!
